I used to define hope as the belief that things will get better. That’s not quite right. Hope is about not giving up, even when you’re down. It’s about refusing to quit when things get tough.

Hope is trusting that things will work out in the end. I’m not sure what he means by “once in life” but I think it has something to do with people being confused about hope and power.
